San Francisco Artist, Poet & Songwriter Johnny Jones was born the son of a 3rd generation Baptist minister and a psychiatric ward nurse in Tagus, North Dakota. As the preachers son, Jones grew up living across the country with his family following a map from God. After the discovery of the Knights In Satans Service, he found his calling. Jones left the church at 17 with the Devil, a sketchbook and a rock-n-roll band. At the age of 24, he was signed to Polygram records and toured the country.

 

In 1998, Jones moved to New York City becoming involved in the St. Mark's/Coney Island High scene working on his painting, poetry and developing his sound. After a couple years in NYC, he relocated to Los Angeles and landed in Long Beach, Ca. There he became heavily involved with the underground art scene of The Bong Leach Coalition arts and music movement. He formed Long Beach's legendary hard art-rock outfit Johnny Jones & The Suffering Halos. Johnny has opened shows for Joan Jett, Jello Biafra, Mike Watt, Dave Vanian, David Baerwald, Bill Bottrell, Mike Martt & Joe Wood.

 

In 2005, Jones took a leave of absence from music for seven years to focus strictly on his artwork. He was accepted to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena Ca where he pursued a BA in Illustration for two years.

 

At this moment, Johnny Jones lives in San Francisco, CA where he continues to make music, paint, design album covers, write stories, box, chain smoke and work on his shit.
